Where we go

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of every nation."   Matthew 28:19

Each of us have a calling

Here at High Sierra Fellowship, we serve in a number of ministries, both within the church walls and going out into the community. Each member of ministry has a passionate, zealous heart to serve our Lord, and it has enabled us to serve in many different ways.

If you have a desire to serve, feel free to look at some of the ministries we have.

If you can't find a ministry that fits your God given talents, please let us know your ministry ideas!

Awana

 Josh Peters (775) 720-2423
 Martin Valenzuela (775) 901-1676

AWANA (awana.org) is an outreach of our church to build, strengthen, and reach children and families with the gospel of Christ, and to begin helping in the discipleship of children.  This is accomplished through games, songs, Bible memorization and teaching.  AWANA's goal is evangelism to, and discipleship of the children, and the balance of both of them working together to produce children who are growing as Christ-like disciples.  "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15).

Matthew 5:14-16  "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

men's bible study

Pastor Ed Lindsay: (775) 220-7826

To see men grow in their faith and become strong spiritual leaders and servants of Jesus Christ in their families, work places, church, and communities.  For once you’ve changed man, you’ve changed the family. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17) The core of the ministry is I Corinthians 16:13 which exhorts, “Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be men of courage, be strong.”

women's bible study

Women’s ministry has the goal of building up the women of our church as commended in the Scriptures (Titus 2:3-4). Just as God commends women to help other women grow in their faith, we try to fulfill that call by:

1. The teaching and study of God’s word.

2. By the fellowship of women in a setting where they can develop relationships with godly women.

3. By providing retreats, conferences and special events for the women to fellowship and
grow in their faith.

We see a great model for a godly woman in Proverbs 31, and many other sections of scripture.

1 Peter 3:3-4 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
